HOLY WEEK IS COMING, and it is going to be like none other!
PALM SUNDAY, APRIL 13 The Sunday of the Passion starts with all the excitement and drama of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. We will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Liturgy of the Palms, followed by the Palm Procession from the front door to the side door into the sanctuary. We will then process around the sanctuary, right past all our NEW STATIONS OF THE CROSS! Stations artist Gary McDonald and his wife Angie will be with us from St. Augustine, FL. We will dedicate our new stations and bless the artist…all this before our regular Liturgy of the Word, Passion reading from Luke, silent reflection and Liturgy of the Table! We will close out our worship with our monthly offering of Healing, no Postlude, as Palm Sunday always ends on an emotional low with the betrayal of Jesus, his trial and crucifixion. What a day!
MAUNDY THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 6 P.M. This day is all about how Jesus served others and calls us to service. There will be a few changes as we will have no footwashing, but we will hear a powerful testimonial and message by Pat Oliver-Wright about her experience with the Diocese of the Rio Grande’s Borderland Ministries. All financial offerings this evening will go to this important ministry. Please be generous. We will end the evening with the last Holy Eucharist before Easter and the stripping of the altar, leaving in silence.
GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 18, NOON, FOLLOWED BY CONFESSIONS FROM 1-2 P.M.
Confessions may also be scheduled throughout Lent by speaking with either Pastor Corinne or Mother Penni.
HOLY SATURDAY, APRIL 19, 10 A.M. A day of quiet reflection and prayer, the Altar Guild will meet to prepare the sanctuary and church for Easter.
SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION, APRIL 20 Join us for a glorious Easter service as we celebrate Christ’s gift of new life! The service begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by an Easter potluck. If you are able, please bring a simple dish to share.
BIBLICAL SCHOLARS The primordial history in Genesis 1-11 provides the foundation for what follows in much of the Old and New Testaments. This course provides an in-depth look at the time before history began and God's activities in the beginning.
